Re: Picking up hitchhikers...Yes or No?

I've only picked up a hitchhiker once. I was Christmas Eve of 2003, and snowing outside, and this old man was walking REALLY slow down the road. At first, I zoomed passed him, then I got the thinking.. "its fuckin Christmas, maybe I should turn around".. so I did.

Eventually, I pulled up next to him, lowered my window and asked him why he was walking on Christmas Eve in the snow in the middle of nowhere.. his answer.. "I'm on my way to the train station so I can go see my daughter in PA, and my car is broken, and I have to walk. Well.. since the train station was like 10 miles away.. I offered to give him a lift. Even though it was a few miles out of my way, I took him all the way there and said have a nice Christmas.

Just the feeling I had from doing something so nice to help someone, especially on a holiday, really meant a lot. That's the only time I ever have. Would I again?? Prolly not, unless the situation was similiar..
