I bought a Samsung 17in LCD for $349. It's well worth it and consumed about a quarter of the juice that my 21 inch monitor did.

That's a good price, I paid more than that back in the day for my Sony Trinitron 19" CRT. I need to replace it soon, the VGA cable is bad and it loses some colors occasionally. Anyone have one of the LCD monitors with a cable input also for watching TV?

I have 3 monitors  Viewsonic 21" CRT, with a Samsung 17" LCD on both sides. Very sweet setup. I do video and photo editing, so it helps. I also do some web design stuff so it helps with that too. I wouldnt have it any other way.
