So today i was d/l some stuff from the forum (porn),...and I was downloading one from a MoMupload link which makes me really stupid b/c a couple days ago I read a thread warning >>>>Webratians<<<<I just made that up about viruses and such from momuploads pop-ups.So as soon as I started d/ling it, I get a sh1teload of pop-ups from my comp telling me that Explorer stopped working and my screen kept flickering and closing every programs that was open b/c explorer had to restart.So I proceeded to reboot in safe mode but that did nothing, just kept on restarting explorer and then i realized that the porn was still d/l since I use firefox so I went to tools>downloads and canceled everything d/ling and the problem immediately stopped. . So this is just another warning to everyone that momupload does in fact give either viruses, spyware ect. so beware.

P.S Im really paranoid, so is there any way I can make sure that whatever messed up my pc isn't in my system anymore? Im currently running Trend Mirco and AVG. thnx for help and sorry for the crappy punctuation/Grammar

AVG has always done me good, run a complete system scan and see what it finds.

Thanks, since it didn't finish d/ling....do ya think that not too much harm was done to my system?And I really don't remember clicking on any pop-ups :( so I'm confused

I'm no expert, but it sounds like your system was affected just by starting the download, or maybe just from going to the site. Stear clear of that site knowing what you now know.

Scan your HD and let AVG do its job.

thnx....i really appreciate it, no viruses were found but now I have two new folders in my HD, they are called "$Windows.~BT" and "Boot" which weren't there before this incident, and can't be deleted....am I just being paranoid or are they nothing?

try running spybot search and destroy it is a really good program to run along your anti-virus, the scan is great brings up loads of stuff avg doesn't and it has tea-timer which protects your registry keys.

what OS are you running ?
there have been some issues with the "windows blue tooth" stuff (the BT folder you mentioned) , the string is correct . it MIGHT just be that if you had the "windows automatic update" turned on it dl'ed that stuff at the same time you were going for the porn . these updates were to take care of some vulnerabilities and exploits . there is a possibility that these are indeed "spoof folders" ... they look right but damn sure aint .

there are some exploits geared toward the old windows messenger (the pos-1 original of yore) that was to be used as an inter-office messaging system . some of those scumware piggybacking sites use this type of system to create the popups .

the surest way to tell what is going on is to do a virus/scum/malware scan of those folders you mentioned ... avg , adaware , spybot s&d and a few others offer the ability to be installed in a manner that allow contextual association with the drop window of options on folders and so-forth ... right click on a folder and select "scan with xxxx" .
it is best to scan with at least two different types of programs (malware and adware programs) .
to the best of my knowledge there is no single program that "gets them all" .


about the grammar ... stop using abbreviations when they are not really needed and break up your writing into logical segments .
the lack of ability to indent the start of a paragraph here makes it a pain ... inserting a space helps out , as does starting a new line .
elsewise , you're doing ok .
