If you had to start your NBA franchise with one player... who would it be?
Just thinking about this, since my hometown team is the Pistons and they have no glorified superstar. Ben Wallace is close but many analysts didn't even want to put him in the all star game.
I was thinking Shaq, but he's getting too old and as soon as he loses interest he'll be overweight again and not effective. KG, Duncan, AI, Kobe, Yao, TMAC are others who I would consider, but for me... I'm now a huge Amare fan... He's so young and becoming so dominant. Can play center against most teams now and he's a matchup nightmare. Oh.. if we only picked Amare instead of Darko....

If you are talking about starting a franchise today in the present: Lebron James. Because of the salary factor. If you take a veteran like Kobe, Shaq, KG, or Duncan they would bog you down with their salaries, and you would be able to afford any quality help. You have to look at the prospect of not having a winning record the first year at least, so you don't want to blow your load of money on veteran talent. Now in the NFL...that's a different story.

FYI, Amare was the year before Darko. You can say Bosh or Wade (or melo if you're a dope), but not Amare.

I think Shaq would probably be the best to build a successful team the quickest.
But i love shooters.. so i would go with Ray Allen or AI.
