Re: encryption?
if you want to make a hidden folder in windows all you have to do is put a folder named hideme at c:/ then right click on the folder and click the hidden option. then anytime you want to access the folder open up a new internet explorer window and type c:/hideme. then you every time you access the folder clear out the history so they don't know about it. simple clean and free.
warning: folder will still be accessable/visable in safemode.

Re: encryption?
"hiding" a folder is pretty much worthless ... encryption of files is good start .
add one more step for the sake of security ... remove the "data" from the computer . encrypt it and stash it on a removable drive . secure the drive away from the machine .
be sure to clean up your tracks/folders and so-forth after working with the "data" with an application such as "window washer" .

Thank you that was the best advice you could have gave me
I have been testing out Bestcrypt and a few others but that lead me to
CryptCD
with CryptCD you can make a decoy CD and make it pop up a "enter registration" dialog box instead of an "enter password" box
what better place to hide something then in plan sight
Thanks again for all the help and I hope this can help out someone else as well

Re: encryption?
Download winRAR, add files to create a RAR file, encrypt the contents and password protect the file (similar to winzip).
Problem solved.
Or if you're using windows XP .. Right click the file .. Properties .. On the General tab click 'Advanced' .. check the 'Encrypt contents to secure data' and hit ok, then zip it up (winzip) and password protect the file.

Re: encryption?
or you can try using Folder Lock which has an encryption feature. I think there is a thread around here with a dl link and serials for Folder Lock so check it out and try it.....im currently using it and it works really good so i recommend it.
