codecs?

Hope I'm posting this in the right spot.

Stupid computer question.

Some video files I download, when I try to play them without being on the internet, I get an error saying that it could not download the codecs. Is there a way to correct this? Do I have to have an internet connection to view these video files?

Re: codecs?

VLC player is another great download. Plays pretty much everything and offers some nice controls such as audio delay for files that get out of sync.

Re: codecs?

Also you can get all the codec packages you need AVI codec pack,Xvid codec pack and the K-lite codec pack free on Download.com. I had the k-lite codec pack but somehow after a while it wasnt working so had to download the Xvid codec pack.
