New NHL Jerseys
So most of you Yankees don't care, but it's something I'm interested in so deal with it.
What do you think of the new NHL jerseys?
Cash grab? Advancement of the sport? let's have it.
And come on, I know it's hockey, but at least it's not the NBA!

Re: New NHL Jerseys
I voted for an advancement in the gear, but I think that is just wishful thinking....

If I could've voted for more than just cash grab, that would've been my second choice.

Re: New NHL Jerseys
friends was mentioning this last night, I really have no idea about it
I think it's an advancement of sorts, though isn't really just like under armor?
I vote for trying to attract ladies

No. Under Armor is what you wear underneath everything. This goes out over padding etc.
They haven't shown what each team's jerseys will look like, but here is the RBK site.
Clicky
To see them on the tele, watch versus at 5pm PST tonight...or CBC if you get it. All Star game will show them off. Teams start wearing them next season.

Outer Armor? Sounds like the same concept, but for "sweaters."

I think it's just Bettman creating change for the sake of change. He wants people to talk about the change. Mission accomlished.

Re: New NHL Jerseys
eh not bad. im a huge flyers fan and i really like their black jerseys. but if it really advances the sport and isnt a advertising for nike gimmick im all for it. also it would be nice for hockey to get more respect here. we have the ahl wbs penguins here and the crowd support is unbelievable but i know around the us the hockey fanbase is very lacking. but as long as it doesnt become so corporate like nascar or the superbowl im all for it.

Re: New NHL Jerseys
Most sports are going to materials which do a better job of wicking moisture away from the body. Why shouldn't the NHL do the same thing? We're living in the age of technology right now and sports are all about improving athletic performance through technology. I've gotten the opportunity to wear the Reebok PlayDry moisture management fabric and it is very, very comfortable. Hell, I'm almost ready to throw all of my plain cotton t-shirts away to go to the synthetic materials because they breathe better overall.
Anyways, it's not really going to make the uniforms that much more dramatic. I'm sure that teams like the Maple Leafs, Red Wings, and Bruins are going to keep their classic looks on the new fabric.

Re: New NHL Jerseys
It's not strictly a cash grab; technology is improving and all equipment in all sports continuously gets better year after year.

I agree with going to the new fabrics, but the rumours on the jerseys is that it will change the look. More form fitting, and getting rid of the classic horizontal stripping.
Plus if you look at the all-star socks? What the hell is that?

They can do whatever they want with the new fabric. They can keep the classic horizontal striping if that's what the teams want. It's just fabric. In the end, it comes down to how the NHL changes its uniform standards, and what each team wants for uniform changes...nothing more, nothing less.
