Re: Spyware

You think that you got those from the site itself? Or some downloads on the site?

Re: Spyware

It's not from this site. Although, you may wish to patch your system as a patch was made available by MS to patch the ADODB.Stream (which assists the Download.Ject virus)

Re: Spyware

No problem. These virus writers are getting very crafty, but some of these system admins are getting very sloppy. Although, rumor has it that the Download.Ject plant was an inside or manual hack. Either way, most general users are not bright enough to be more cautious on the web. The good news is that XP's SP2 RC2 is very nice! As soon as SP2 goes out to everyone, it should tighten things up a little more, assuming users don't blindly open their systems.

Re: Spyware

If you have XP, you should consider getting the SP2rc2 update. It's a major improvement. Microsoft handles content blocking nicely. Although, the firewall is a major improvement, it still lacks because of the inability to specify inbound and outbound port ACL's

Are you for real? That's cool. I'd love to come into a company that nailed down some stability on there MS platform. It seems rare in most shops. The key question I ask any MS admins is; What is your reboot schedule? If they have one established, it's hard to take them seriously. Rebooting weekly is just a joke. The couple of Windows servers I manage haven't been rebooted since early this year.

As for the Service Pack 2... I think they have a ways to go yet. And black eyes like this one don't help:

Re: Spyware

If you think you have some spyware, check out "Adaware" and "Spybot Search & Destroy". Running both of these programs will cleanup any spyware problems you have. Both can be downloaded from download.com
