Custom Laptop
Im looking to make a custom Laptop.
Ive looked at
Dell
HP
Sony
Mac
Cyberpowerpc
Alienware
and 3 more that i can think of
Only one had a ATI Firegl video card.
Im starting to look into making a custom laptop from a barebone system or something like that. Must haves would include a Intel Dual Core processor, ability to upgrade up to 4gb memory, and the ATI Fire GL video card.
I started looking at sites but dont know the best way to do this.
Any ideas,
Thanks

Re: Custom Laptop
I have also tried to look into this subject and really haven't found much with regards to barebook systems. I just don't know where to look and unfortunately, it seems like there is a lack of sites that provide parts for laptops. Someone needs to find a site that is similar to newegg that has just the laptop parts. As of now, I feel your pain in this area. Sorry I couldn't help.

Re: Custom Laptop
you best bet is Nvidia when going with mobile gfx.. ATI is coming up fast in the race but Nvidia still has the reliable card when it come to mobile gfx....
and for a reference I build custom PC and Laptops for people in the area that I live in...

Re: Custom Laptop
The reason i picked ATI, is because the Fire GL cards are known and highly recommended throughout the Architectural and Engineering Business. I spec them for our desktops, and if i am going to use a laptop i would prefer to have the same thing.
When you say custom, do you just find a manf, and build to the customers needs, or do you actually get a barebone, or blank system and piece a system together.
