please help me, i upgraded my computer to vista ultimate, and i had Mcafee which i found out later that is not compatible with this OS, so i uninstalled it.
I tried to install a new AV (Kaspersky for vista) but it tells me that i have Mcafee (still) installed so i have to unistall it. which i thought i had (uninstalled) already! I tried to open C:\ drive and it said "C:\ is not accessible" i cannot open it!...so what is the problem? Idont know, and im so dying to get my computer to work properly with an antivirus which i cant install and C:\ is not accessible,,,please help me.Thank you in advance

vista ... "how do you spell solid waste ?" ... but i digress .

right off the top of my head ...
check your security/user/admin rights ... the settings in these will determine if you have access to various items .
if you are the only user of the comp , give yourself the full-boat access .


oh yeah ... you might have to do some digging to get rid of all the chunks of the old program (aka sloppy housekeeping uninstaller) . mckaffe should have a removal/cleanup tool at their site .

you might have to use a GOOD registry cleaner ... give it an enema .
ccleaner is a good product ... but be careful with it (or any of them for that matter) ... always make a back-up of the registry before making stuff go away .
ccleaner will only allow you to make a new back-up file after one minute has elapsed between runs .
