Yeah, I agree, if you let them get away with it once then they'll always think it's ok. Sometimes you have to stand your ground with someone even if you care/love them. In the end, you'll respect yourself more and they'll have more respect for you.

Take the moral high ground, tell her not to spy through your personal stuff, get rid of old evidence with her to show her it means nothing, tell her trust is a two way thing and tell her that if she hits you again, you'll pack her things for her and kick her out the door. she apologized this time but you've already had the same fight twice over the same thing (the letters and the MSN stuff). If she's hitting you, and flying into rages about shit that you wrote 10+ years ago, or conversations you had with somebody before you guys were dating, there are serious issues here. One of those issues being that you're trying to stay with her. Many more related to the abuse/snooping. The lack of trust she has in you seems like its more of a serial problem, not a one-time thing.

You need OUT RIGHT NOW. Hitting is never ok. You may not want to call the cops, there is an embaressment factor, but you need to get out. Look in your phone book for abused women's shelters. Call them and they should be able to have someone who can talk to you about getting out and getting help. The make up sex is not worth it.

As I say this, I am realizing that there is a folder in my basement with love letters from college. I have kids now and so does she. But she was hot.

I say a general rule of thumb is serious relationship for at least 1 year, Then open the disscusion to living together. I say 1 year cause thats the amount of time needed for the "Honeymoon" period. where everything is still new and exciting.

Everyone seems to be caught up on the physical abuse thing. IMO it's not really that big of a deal since you say you're a big guy and she's probably not hurting you, unless of course it something like slapping your face or punshing you, but if she's just wailing her arms that it's just a reaction from her which you need to address.

I have had girls that tended to get physical but i'd just take them by the wrists and tell them to stop or throw them on the bed and do a quick shout to jolt them out of their fury - usually worked fine and then they were able to talk since you've broken their pattern of rage.

Now spying will happen, although it's not ok, but she's probably curious since it's still a new relationship. If she's upset about 10 year old messages then I'd just tell her that it was 10 years ago and if she can't handle you having had a great relationship in the past then she really does need to leave and move on. If she can't get over that then she will be constantly spying on you to justify her outbreak now.... even if it's 5 months from now.

I think that little voice you have inside of you will have the answer that you know if the correct choice, although it may be hard for your brain and penis to follow.
