opinions on this guitar
I'm going to purchase my first electric guitar and I wanted opinions on which one I should get. I'm looking at an epiphone les paul standard, or a fender strat. Which would be easiest to learn on?

Re: opinions on this guitar
I guess no one had an opinion so I went with the les paul, I liked the way it feels vs the fender. It was also alot cheaper.

Re: opinions on this guitar
what kind of music do you like to play?
I've found that typically the Strat can kick out some killer leads. But the Les Paul is excellent as well.
I'd say go for the one that feels more comfortable to you. You can get some great sounds out of both of them. You won't go wrong.

Re: opinions on this guitar
You made a wise decision with the Les Paul. I own both, the Les Paul is much easier to play on. I like the Fender Stratocaster, it's a legend of a guitar if you listen to lots of Hendrix...the Les Paul is absolutely amazing and is great to play, has excellent tones as well.

Re: opinions on this guitar
I was also able to pick up a cheap samick electric guitar. It looks like a strat but I know it does not sound or feel like one. I like it better for playing chords, and I like the les paul for picking solo's. I'm not that good at guitar yet but i'm practicing alot and trying to get better.

Re: opinions on this guitar
Where did you get the guitar? I've heard that the Epiphone Les Paul Standard is a really good guitar. I might get one later this year. It would be a major upgrade from my Squier.

Re: opinions on this guitar
I got the les paul from musicians friend.com, and the samick from a local guitar shop.

Stick with the Epiphone for your first. For the money you can get a really good sound.

Re: opinions on this guitar
For some reason, I cant play LesPauls. The bridge is just way too weird for me. But, in any case, Im an Ibanez man. And im looking into a PRS... but they are expensive..

Re: opinions on this guitar
I prefer Strats to LP as far as playing goes. Strats just seem easier to move around on and all.
I think Les Pauls are cooler looking, though.

Re: opinions on this guitar
If anyone else is looking into buying a Fender Strat make sure it's a 22 fret and not a 21 fret, so you'll be capable of playing up to 24 fret range if need be.
If you go with a three single coil pickup guitar, if possible, see if the body is capable of fitting humbucker at least in the bridge position, so if you feel like upgrading to a humbucker pickup in the future you won't have to route out the body so the pickup(s) can fit.
That's just my opinion though.
If you don't understand what I'm saying then just ask the salesman or person your buying the guitar from. Hopefully he/she will be able to help you out.
Long live the shred!
