That may be exactly what they are doing or they just have some tough laws I'm unaware of.
Bali jail since her arrest on 8 October last year
And she was in jail for more than 8 months.
sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined 100 million rupiah ($10,700) on Friday.
They have the nerve to say well we are taking the rest of your life away pretty much and oh ya fork over some cash, lil meanies they are.
believing her defense argument that the drugs found in her possession were planted by baggage handlers in Australia.
That was her defense, not a very good one. But I have heard of people having drug's planted on there stuff unknowingly then at some point most likely at the hotel they get to next it is taken off without them noticing it was ever there.
Corby's defense team was buoyed by news Australian Federal Police and Qantas Airways were investigating the role of baggage handlers in a cocaine smuggling operation.
Um..wouldn't that prove she was telling the truth!
Dismissed key evidence
The panel of three judges dismissed key evidence prepared by her defense team, including that of Australia prisoner John Ford who backed Corby's claim that she was an unwitting "drug mule."
The judges found Corby's defense team could not prove if there was another person responsible for the drugs.
What the hell is wrong with them, ooo they may of been on the drug ring thing. I sure know I wouldn't be suprised.
Already the case has triggered a series of threats against Indonesian diplomatic missions in Australia and Indonesia.
I'm glad about that, they wanna be lil meanies they will get the ass wooping they deserve.
All in all a classic case of injustice and they will get burned for it that's for damn sure.
Let em fry

Re: unbelievable
I read this story while at work today and thought about bringing it up once I got home. I'm glad to see it already started though.
It's truly sad what's happened to this girl. Whether she's an unwitting accomplace or not she definitely doesn't deserve the punishment she's been handed by a corrupt foreign government wanting to make an exampe out of outsiders.
For one thing it definitely doesn't boost tourism to an already poor country that could use the income and that is quick to ask for handouts from superpowers. Throw visitors who've been duped into prison. It's most likely not her fault the drugs ended up in her bag.....who's to say that won't happen to the next American that visits?
Two....throw out the evidence supporting her claim? That's real brilliant.
If it was an American our government would have put a ton of pressure on those in power in Bali and we'd have had them extradited here for some prisoner swap or money. Australia needs to step up big time here. That young womans life is ruined, no telling what the corrupt prison system has already done to her and what they will do in the coming years.

Re: unbelievable
Wow, that SUCKS for that gal. Originally I was going to say that Bali/Indonesia isn't the best place to be smuggling a little bit of the ol' devil weed, but upon further examination, that may not even be the case. I also sympathize with her because she is kinda hot.
I agree that Australia needs to step it up, and also agree with Juan when he notes that the U.S. could lay some serious smackdown if that happened to one of us (well, maybe just someone in the military).
[cut to Austrailia]
"This is an outrage, mate! I'll take this all the way to the prime ministah!"
(yells out window)
"OY!! Prime Ministah!!"

Re: unbelievable
OMFG you guys should be here in Aussie. Dude shes on tv like every news break for the past God knows how long since shes been detained. But the think is how many other people are in jail having the same fate and they get 0 coverage.
*shrugs* The whole issue whilst at the beginning was interesting after extensive media coverage for too long - enough is enough. I say 20yrs is still better then the firing squad...

Re: unbelievable
This country is Islamic based... Need I say more? That is the primary reason why all Islamic countries suck. The reigion is so ingrained into the government that to change the policies would require changing the religion. Absolute power VIA a hijacked religion.
