REAL Music
So I've read a few posts here and found something sadly missing: The elitist music snob. SO, I'm going to lay it out nice and simple. Progressive Rock and Progressive Metal are the only things worth listening to ever. On the rock side includes bands ranging from Yes and Rush to Spock's Beard and Marillion. As far as Progressive Metal if you haven't heard of Dream Theater or Fates Warning don't post here. Go listen to some of their stuff. If you think you're a bad-ass and can handle musical mind-fuck and insane musicianship go find some Pain of Salvation, Liquid Tension Experiment, or Spiral Architect. I could name so many more bands that will blow away even the most casual, ignorant listener, it's friggin ridiculous. So, thoughts? Favorite bands from these genres? Wanna try to explain to me why hip hop hasn't gone the way of hair metal yet (or for that matter why or how it ever became popular in the first place)? Also please don't post shit about how Korn and Mudvayne are the best metal bands ever, because they're not. In fact, they suck. A LOT. They're Nu-Metal. For silly vampire kids with ridiculous piercings and heavy eye makeup. Fugging Lame.

Re: REAL Music
you cant say that there is only one good kind of music. just because something is difficult does not make it good. you can listen to the simplest melodies of ben kweller or a 12 minute solo from yngwie and get the same pleasure from both.

Damn straight...I must say that I don't particularly like any prog rock/metal bands, but I won't say that they're not talented. Just not something that I particularly care for.
