Re: working out during the week

Hmm, I think this would be alot easier if we actually knew what his goals were, and his current situation with his size( gain weight or lose it?)

Re: working out during the week

Protien Shake!?, wouldn't a bar be sufficient?

And just to let you guys know im a 5'10", and weighing a steady 230. though im not showing any of the gut through my clothes, i just want to get rid of whats underneath and replace it with muscles. I do take martial arts, and it helps a lot, but i can get to it only on sundays.

I'm trying to adjust my wake up times a little more, but it's kinda getting hard to work at it, now with the finals coming up.

Re: working out during the week

Like someone said, unless you require 14 hours of sleep you can almost always find an hour or so to work out, if you say you can't then you don't want it bad enough.

For weight loss I'd recommend turbulence training and HIIT (High intensity interval training)

For turbulence training you pretty much do an upper body exercise followed immediately by a lower body exercise and then rest for a minute, that's one superset. Do three sets of supersets(for a total of 18 single sets) or less if you're not in the best shape. Check out turbulence training on the web as I'm sure it can go into much heavier detail than I'm going to here

I'm going to disagree with Vincent on this but with the case of exercise and which cardio's the best there's always someone toting the best way for cardio, here's what I do and enjoy the results from. Warm up for about 5 minutes then start HIIT. HIIT would be running at 85-95% for 20 seconds and then resting for 10 and continue this, I do it 8 times (4 minutes) and it's harder than it sounds. I tried doing 45 seconds with 15 seconds for rest and it kicked my butt. You can decide for your fitness level how many HIIT sets you want to do. Afterwards of course warm down for about 5 minutes.

I know of many fitness buffs that swear by HIIT and turbulence training and it's worked for me, I've lost 6 pounds in the past few weeks. Make sure you're getting enough of your carbs, protein, and fat otherwise you'll lose weight where you don't want to, from your muscle. Hope this was helpful without being too long winded, best of luck man.

Re: working out during the week

What I do:
come home from work kiss wife and kids. Hit mountian bike and blow the stress. Stop and stretch once and a while. This is about thirty minutes. Then later in the evening I hit the floor for some pushups and situps(50-100 depending on time and mood). I also have a kicking bag to practice what little martial arts I know... very good cardio. Jumping jacks work well too. I don't dig the weights. Don't think you have to pump iron or pay for gym membership to be fit and healthy. All you really need is about 20-30 minutes at least 3 days a week and motivation. Good luck! BTW you can practice Martial arts without contact. This helps your control also. In a hurry got to go... Later
