Because america isnt the type of country to attack mexico because gov't leadership doesnt like or hates catholics.

Unlike Iran if you consider Israel.

We dont gas minorities if they oppose the government.

You think America owes the rest of the world something.

You cry when we "police the world" and at the same time cry when americans dont give money to the poor or when the president only promises millions in tsunami relief instead of billions.

Cant have it both ways, if America gives like it does that does give us some breathing room

Excellent point! I couldn't have put it better myself. People want to have their cake and eat it too. Well life just isn't that easy.

And the top wage earners pay ~70% of the total taxes give or take 5 or 10 points depending on where you look.

No they don't.

Also, I don't "cry" about anything. I am glad that people show that they will give money to good causes, whether it's for the right reasons or not... but I do get pissed when the US forces issues on other countries. We've used the "gassing their own people" on Iraq, now you're going to pull it again on Iran? Man, like I said, I told people from the beginning we were going after Iran next. It has nothing to do with WMD.

You blindly support Bush, no matter what he is doing, just because he claims religion. Anyone can claim religion. The only proof of religion he is showing thus far is his crusade against muslim countries.

Also, if we don't owe the rest of the world anything, why the fuck are we policing the world? I never said we owed anyone anything. I said people should give where it is needed.

No, but we do round them all up and hold them in detainment camps without a lawyer or even a charge .

Unlike many, esspecially Republicans these days, I don't have contradictory stances. The US has an obligation to help countries in need AND prevent all occurances of genocide or massive human abuse, as well as all threats to our soil. In our modern world, though, neither should be done unilaterally, and ESSPECIALLY not controdicting the will of the non-American world. What alot of people are pissy about is the definition currently before both action or inaction, as Bush declares threats where most independant investigators declare none, ignores genocide unless it's in a "terrorist" nation where he bleeds the shit outta it, and then does little to help most nations in need.

Independant Investigators declared that Iraq as a Threat was nearly non-existant, and that Iraq as a Tyranny was mild at best compared to countless others. Iran is higher threat, lower tyranny, but it's still the same ol' song and dance with the Repubbies claiming everything short of the Iotola is Satan on Earth to motivate the easily manipulated.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, back on topic: The tax burden of the rich is larger now than before because the income gap greatly widened. They're making more and the poor and middle class are making less. The Democrats already came out with that and shot-down this issue, only the uninformed, clueless, or mindlessly fanatic still believe this shows any ounce of being progressive. the REAL percents that matter isn't the "total tax burden", but the "percent of income paid in taxes".
