New Information on the frontlines, after the elections...?

NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq — The combat hospital on the chief U.S. base near Fallujah has set up a morgue and doubled medical staff and supplies in preparation for an expected stream of casualties from an anticipated assault on the rebel stronghold.

Hmmmm... funny, right after the elections, this comes out. Guess Bush is already in office, so this is ok.

"We've had 20 to 30 casualties on a given day here. We expect maybe double that on a serious day. And we can handle them," Capt. Eric Lovell, a Navy doctor, said Thursday at the base hospital, a low concrete building announced by a sign saying "Cheaters of Death."

This amount, by Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's account, is supposed to reach record highs by January.

I wonder why none of this was said BEFORE the election? :happycow:

With casualties comes fatalities. Come on Justin, Rumsfeld said there were going to be more and more casualties. Casualties != fatalities, but fatalities = casualties. People are dying, and more will be dying.

Re: New Information on the frontlines, after the elections...?

I will tell you EXACTLY why. Because it wouldn't have been good for the election. It would give Team Kerry something more to talk about. It is no surprise that we are going to turn up the heat in Iraq now that the elections are over. We have to get that country ready for some elections of their own.

I guess I don't see your point Jimi.

No, you've proven my point, without me needing to. Thanks.

Jimi-

I, too, wished Kerry would have won the election. Unfortunately, though, he didn't. Did you see his concession speech? He urged all of his supporters to try to unite the country and work towards bringing our horribly divided citizens back together. You can not see the world in black and white (or red and blue). While you may not have wanted bush to win, I think it is important now that we stop complaining about it, and that we move and and support our president to the best of our ability. Whether we like him or hate him, our fate lies in his hands. Bickering over what "should" have happened or what "would" have happened is only going to open up old wounds that are already hard enough to heal.

EDIT - Justin

I really dont care but rules are rules. You can't advertise another forum. But remember you have a PM box.

EDIT - Ryan

My bad. It's all good.

No, I stand in unity with people, no matter what their polical beliefs. I also, however, debate politics in forums that allow such debates. :happycow:

lol.. never got the conection until your last post... has you noticed you tend to put that smiley with the cowboy hat at the end of your postings... well I scrolled and justin avatar has bush with a cowboy hat... maybe you in reality are a bush fan ... but post opposing opinions to make people defend him !!!

serious question: .... politics = bush? most of your political views are anti-bush rather than politics in general

Actually... I'm a Texas boy, I'm used to the cowboy hats. Not only Bush wears them, ya know.

Not ALL of my politics are about Bush, or anti-Bush. It's just that he is the leader of US politics, therefore, he's the brunt of a lot of my political debating.

Re: New Information on the frontlines, after the elections...?

Well, I think we all know why the battle of Fallujah was held off to after the elections, though I don't think it's a republican thing. I think a Democratic president would have done the same thing. It's the smart thing.

Dead bodies aren't good politics, God rest their souls.

I personally think no matter if its good for your re-election or not, If you are int eh middle of somethign like a war that you started, you don;t hold things off with our boys siting with thumbs up their asses waiting for you to throw them back into hell cause you needed to get re-elected. Whether the president was a democrat or republican I would criticize them on this. It's just not right. Not right to our soldiers and not right to the american people.

I agree. It might be the "smart" thing to do but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the "right" thing to do.
