Strange video card issue

I've got a PII 233 IBM that I bought at an auction. It seems to work fine for the most part, except for a couple of small things. With the built in video card, windows couldn't seem to find a decent driver for it, so I couldn't change the screen size. I installed a donor card, a Cirrus Logic card, 1 mb ram, and could change screen settings fine. Changed to my regular 800x600 16bit true color. When I shut down, or reboot, it reverts back to the default 640x480 256 color. Anyone ever have this problem before, or know how to fix it?

Re: Strange video card issue

ummm after it reverts back.... can you still go in and change it back to 800x600 after the reboot?

if you can change it... then it seems like the video driver is being kept, but perhaps the wrong monitor driver is installed. it might think the monitor cant handle over 640x480

if you cant change it and have to reinstall the driver each time, then its the driver. hard to find supported products that are that old unfortunately. rawr.

Re: Strange video card issue

I can change it back after a reboot, and only after one reboot did it keep. It's an IBM G51 monitor, which I use on other pc's at 800x600. Windows 98 SE. It's the same model and version I'm using right now on my primary pc. I haven't looked yet, but is this remembered in an .ini file somewhere? I'll have to look for that later, when I have time.
