You have to understand thought that long range to me is 100 yds because I use a .22, not a .308...my bullet is crawling at 100-200 yds, although I know a couple who shot 450 yds with .22s...they ran out of elevation and had to shade high.

Re: Personal Gun Policy

Well, what I use is just a vamped up .22. I'm more used to AR-15s and .308s. In fact, I sold my last .308, and to be honest, I'm kicking myself. The .223 will make it 1000 yards, although, you know, the whole power thing behind the rifles....

Re: Personal Gun Policy

yeah... .223 isn't too good at 1000 yds...but .22LR and .223 are quite different as you no doubt know

Re: Personal Gun Policy

...good at 1000 yds...no, well...rarely. A 6.5 mm or .308 will stomp .223 any day at that range. Reason being the wind blows a 55 grain .223 bullet around a lot more than a 142 grain 6.5 mm bullet or a 168 grain .308 bullet.

Re: Personal Gun Policy

To be honest, I don't know what a palma is. I know what I have shot.... and I suppose it's the ARs my dad has. Regardless, like I said, I suppose since I've been doing it so long that I now find it boring.

Re: Personal Gun Policy

Palma is a long range competition using very specific kind of equipment. .308 Winchester rifle, 24" barrel (I believe it's limited to only that, if it's not, that's what everyone uses anyway), iron sights, 3.5 lbs trigger, and fire only 155 grain sierra match king bullets. the course of fire is...unlimited sighters 800 yds (15 record shots), 2 sighters 900 yds (15 shots), 2 sighters 1000 yds (15 shots). Luckily these rifles are also very good at regular long range competition.

Re: Personal Gun Policy

I think anyone without a criminal background should be able to own a gun, or several guns. Now im not quite sure about a persons right to own hundreds of guns, i personally dont see the need unless its a collector. However the type of gun i believe should be kept to rifles, shotguns, and legal handguns. The law on illegal firearms is ending this year, and ive heard that Kerry plans not to reissue it. Thats a big problem for me. Theres a reason i live in the U.S....if i wanted to go and live over in the middle east where the average home has a couple AK-47's than i would. If what ive heard is true, and Kerry gets ellected, God help our country.
