Re: Gay Marriage
It will eventually mess up children when learning how babies are concieved. (well baby daddy puts his penis in daddys rectum and/or mouth and nothing happens, no more babies, end of world. Have a nice happy sleep now.)

Re: Gay Marriage
Homesexuality was very accepted and considered normal in Ancient Rome, and they did perfectly fine for 1000 years.
And we've got more kids who need adoption than gay couples, so we're in no danger of "no more babies" lol. We have too many as-is.

This is much different than the morality debate that you mentioned roachfood.

Why should the opinions of people living in one state affect the laws of another? Why would anyone want this to be a nationwide debate? I can tell you why I think they want that. I think that they want it nationwide because they cannot possibly accept that another state might set a law in the contrary to their position. They want that because they want to impose their views on everyone in the country when in fact, the states are much different in culture and beliefs. What may work well in one state will likely fail in another.

I like this point that you make and I agree that states should be allowed to decide on certain issues such as this, just as with capital punishment for instance, I dont want all the crazies in Texas to tell us we can't have a moritorium on the death penalty here in Maryland. However, in my opinion it shouldn't even be up to the government at all, it scares me to think we would give either the state or federal government that much poer to restrict our civil rights.
But that doesn't even matter, something like this would never pass, Bush just had to propose it to shore up some strong conservative votes.
