i need a f@cking computer techy
okay, I know my soundcard works. I know this for a fact. I can get movies and music to work through winamp, but not on my goddamned browsers, vlc, or anything else.....
So we decided to go into the services. First windows audio wasnt there, so I found the registry file online and updated my registry. Now I HAVE the windows audio, but it says windows audio error 1068: the depenency service or group failed to start.
I have no clue how to fix it, it's pissing me off. At least I can still watch my porn through winamp.

Re: i need a f@cking computer techy
I fucking hate audio problems on computers. I can figure out pretty much anything else, or at least fake my way through it. But if the audio is fucked, I'm about as usefull as Helen Keller singing the national anthem.

Re: i need a f@cking computer techy
well if you updated from windows XP to Vista then your problem is probably because you updated from XP with all the same internal hardware, and the drivers for some of that hardware (eg.Integrated Audio) are not compatible with Vista. And if this isn't the case then sorry bro i don't really know what to do.but if this is the case then you can probably find the driver installations at the companies official websites.

Re: i need a f@cking computer techy
first place you should look at is your windows device manager (right click My Computer, Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager button) and see if there are any yellow icons with exclamation points next to any devices on your system. If you have the audio card driver disc handy, keep it nearby. Delete any device with a yellow icon next to it, then right click on your computer icon (at the top of the device manager list) & click "scan for hardware changes". If it finds your devices, which it should, it will prompt you for drivers...if the system cannot automatically find the drivers, just browse to them on the driver disc you kept handy. That is how you reinstall conflicting devices. If that doesn't work you may just have a codec problem, in which case I would recommend you install the k-lite codec pack. Easy to find on the tubes & free.

Re: i need a f@cking computer techy
well id say if its just in your browser it aint an audio driver problem
try if you are using IE try firefox if it works its your settings in the browser or its malware.
try download addaware its helped me in situations like this
but in the end sometimes all that works is taking it to a priest to get blessed coz the porn has sinned

Re: i need a f@cking computer techy
be careful when looking up or posting addy's/names for "anti" stuff . not all readers/posters of this section are hip when it comes to sound/look alike progams (etc) . some are indeed desperate and therefore might tend to not be cautious ... the ol' " i'd wizz on an electric fence if i thought it would help " routine .
in looking up "addaware" i came up with this : add-aware.com ... this is listed (in an legitimate anti-spy/mal/etc site) in the (as i call it) BS section .
it is pretty obvious that this is one of those sound/look alike bogus "anti" programs . these types of programs actually install spy/mal/scumware ... thereby compounding the problem .
Ad-aware on the otherhand , is one of the biggest legitimate products out there . their addy is : www.lavasoft.de .
here are two very informative sites pertaining to legitimate/bogus "anti" programs and information about what's going on :
