Re: ping bombs

Don't worry about it.
Doing it is highly illegal, more so than pirating programs, music and movies.
This is a form of DDoS attack. And if you don't know what DDoS is, then you don't need to be running a server.

Re: ping bombs

yeppers ...

about those ipa's from china and a few other places ... i have had a lot of reports come back indicating that an ipa is faked ... "there is no record of those ipa's ..." .

a good firewall is the best bet ... i personally use sygate ... this is no longer being developed/available as a "current" version .
another firewall that might be useful is zonealarm ... this program is like a blackhole to queries ... it returns nothing , it looks like there is nothing at the ipa/port . if you install it , roll your ipa ... hopefully the idiot in china won't find you ... but if you are running a server and the addy/site is known then you may have a little problem , but the firewall will be able to keep blocking the addy .

every once in a while i get some moron from china trying to access my sql database ... i have been sorely tempted to provide the chap with a nice little present that he can dl and execute ... hey , it aint my fault if someone sneaks in and dl's some bad code !
