Capturing Video from TV
I'm wondering how I can record video from my TV onto my computer. I'm googling stuff right now on how to figure it out but I'm not getting much. I have a S-Video link right now so that I can use my TV as a computer monitor, but I'm wondering if I can reverse it. Can anyone point me in a good direction?

Re: Capturing Video from TV
check out the different video capture cards and software .
there are many different types available and the associated requirements .
pinnacle (adobe) makes a good product for the money ... last i checked , it was about 200 bucks for the card , software suite and connector box ... it does not produce broadcast quality but is quite satisfactory for the average user .
when looking for a capture card be sure to check out the minumum cpu speed and ram suggested by the manufacturer ... if the cpu is too slow and/or there are a lot of applications running in the background this will cause frame dropping in the capture .

Re: Capturing Video from TV
Well right now all I have is a Geforce FX 5200 video card with an S-Video cable. Basically, will I be able to capture video from my TV with what I have?

Re: Capturing Video from TV
No you need a tv tuner/capture card like this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16814122180
You can an ATI All-In-Wonder card which is a 3D graphics card and tv tuner/capture card in one but many have said that the performance is lacking compared to a the equal card without the AIW features.

Re: Capturing Video from TV
here is a suggestion :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...034#DetailSpecs
again , be sure to check out the system requirements to avoid hassles .
this software suite and hardware is pretty easy to install/learn to use . i installed/set up an earlier version of this for a 75 year old man ... he wanted to convert/edit 8mm movies (film and tape) and vhs tapes of family get-togethers , etc etc and burn dvd's ... it took him about a week to really get good at it !
ps ... sorry about the delay in posting , it has been kind of crazy around here ... long hours/miles .
