Second soldier pleads guilty in gay porn case

FORT BRAGG, NC — A second 82nd Airborne soldier pleaded guilty to having sex for money for a video filmed for a pornography Web site.
Pvt. Kagen P. Mullen, 21, also pleaded guilty Monday to a marijuana charge that was filed after he had been charged for making the video.
The judge, Col. Grant Jaquith, sentenced Mullen to spend three months in confinement, lose two-thirds of his pay for three months and end his military career with a bad-conduct discharge.
Mullen testified that he was paid $7,500 for still shots of himself naked, as well as a “finder’s fee” for bringing other soldiers to tape gay movies. He made $2,000 for filming a sex scene with a woman while soldiers participated in sex acts with each other around Mullen.
“People in the military just shouldn’t do that, sir,” Mullen told the judge, “or anyone for that matter, sir.”
On Thursday, Pvt. 1st Class Richard Ashley also pleaded guilty to a drug charge, sodomy and conduct detrimental to the military, and was also sentenced to three months’ confinement, loss of rank to PV1, loss of two-thirds of his pay for three months, and a bad-conduct discharge.
In all, seven paratroopers from the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment were charged or faced non-judicial Article 15 punishment. Four soldiers received Article 15 non-judicial punishment of reduction in rank to private, 45 days’ restriction to the unit area, 45 days of extra duty and forfeiture of one-half month’s pay for two months. The four remain at Fort Bragg as they wait to out process.
The remaining soldier, Pvt. First Class Wesley Mitten, faces a court-martial on May 16.
