What Programming Language Best to Learn

Hello all. I just finished my first year of college and am a computer engineer major but before I get to any of those type of classes i have to do all the prerequistes and all that fun stuff. But in the mean time I was going to get one of those books that teach you how to use the different programming languages. My question is if anyone knows which language would be best to learn for up-and-coming students. Any advice is helpful! Thanks

I'd reccomend C++ and Java as most used, Assembeley language is irritating but gives you an idea of how to work around problems in other languages, so it's useful to know, and PYTHON is nice to know as well.

Kind of easy to pick up on too...
