I have spyware/adware on my computer that WONT go away i have zonealarm and have removed it multiple times with that and spy sweeper, as well as the program ad-aware. I can seem to get rid of it, i cant pin point it to the same thing that keeps coming back it seems to be lots of diffrent kinds.
I looked at all my running processes to see if any of them were bad
i found out that
csrss.exe
smss.exe
were worms i guess, but since there running under system category i cant seem to figure out how to turn them off or delete them, but im not even really sure if they are worms. Can someone please help?

Re: Need help

The best way to get rid of them is remove them from your registry. Do a google search on those. There should be info as to which registries specifically you will need to delete. However, make sure that they are a virus before deleting!
csrss can be a windows file:

http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/smss.exe.html

What makes you think you have a virus?

Re: Need help

Both are those are safe and are key programs for Windows to run correctly.
However, they are both the file names for viruses.
So make damn sure you know which one you're getting rid of or you'll FUBAR your system.

You tried to remove spyware with ZoneAlarm?

Get Ad-Aware and Spybot. Run them both in SafeMode.
If you're still having problems get HijackThis and post your log.

Absolutely! Great tools. Don't try to fixing things on your own with HijackThis, let someone who understands it look at the log and follow their instruction. Castlecops also has a forum for that.

You can also try doing an online scan from Trend Micro's Housecall or Panda Active Scan. Trend will do an automatic removal, Panda gives you instructions for manual removal. What can sometimes happen is spyware/adware will mask itself from your onboard software so it goes undetected.

I would be leary about messing around with the regisrty unless you know what you're doing.
