Thanks gents....

I have a CD that came with my Washburn electric that you could have I guess, if you wanted. From what I seen when I ran it, it is probably a good starter disc.

Here's the features that are listed on the disc:
Interactive lessons
Automatic tuner
Metronome
Chord Dictionary
Recorder

I doubt I'll ever use it, haven't yet other than to see what was on the disc. Send me a PM if you want it, if not, eh, I tried.

See, Ibanez had one with my guitar as well....and it sucks. The guy is a pud, and really doesn't show you much.

I've just heard of people getting sweet "how to's" online.

The way I learned and still am is by tabs.Learn how to read the tabs first(relatively easy) then start learning songs that are easy at first.Personally I find the lessons boring because you are just repeating notes without any sense of melody.Playing songs on the other hand no matter how easy makes you feel like you are palying a good tune. The key is getting a feel for the guitar and improving your fingering.Once you feel comfortable with your fingering proceed to other more difficult songs. The key is enjoy what you play, have patience, work at the sound then the speed. If you start out playing difficult solos you are doing it wrong.

Re: Guitar Players Unite...

Lessosn aren't that important.. Been playing for about 13 years.
I've learned to play by ear..
Lesson did however hep me out in later years, when I was stuck in a rut..

The most important thing is exercize.. Fingering, And picking..

As for improvment, it comes in stages.. you get stuck in a rut, then one day you pick something new up..

Don't ever get discouraged.. there is allways someone better out there..

Re: Guitar Players Unite...

Three things:
Scale books, chord diagrams, lots of instruction online from basic to advanced. After that it is tablature, fingering and picking techniques, music theory...and a whole lot of listening and practicing. The scale books and chord diagrams will get you started. If you really want to play, practice as if it were ritual, daily...and do not stop.
