Re: DVD Burner?

get whatever is cheap. Don't overpay because these dvd burners all have short lifespans (compared to read only drives), and also because when the old one breaks, the new ones will be at half the price and at twice the speed. The money you saved can be budgeted for a future burner.

Re: DVD Burner?

I also am a big LiteOn fan......ALTHOUGH I have an 8x LiteOn that was bundled with SONIC MY DVD---The software sux big time wasted lots of blank DVDs. I am using Roxio 6 and DVD xcopy ~v3. No more problems. I actually just ordered the 12x version from Newegg.com with Nero which is also supposed to be good for ps2 game backups.

Also in regards to dual layer recorders, I've HearD that they may have lots of compatiblity problems with older dvd players and such. I believe it was a sony and liteon dual layer tested on cnet.

Re: DVD Burner?

I have the Plextor 708A and it's been great. The software that comes with is is very standard...but the quality and reliabiliy of the disks is great. No coasters yet.
